A Haircut (or 2, or 3)

Last Tuesday night, I was telling Eric about all of the mischief that William plowed into for the day. Just letting him in on the blessed highs and lows of our day. William overflowed a bathroom sink, made mud out of my powder and blush, colored his teeth and face with lipstick, used every last ounce of dish soap in the apartment washing his farm animals (overflowing yet another sink), etc. As I was finishing our list of plowing...He cut his hair.
There were clumps this size ALL over the bathroom! It's hard to notice, but I promise you can feel it!

This is not the first time this has happened, but we thought we were past this stage. After fussing at him and showing him the precious ears God gave him, and thanking the Lord that he did not cut them off, we ran out of the room as fast as we could so we could laugh. And then I cried. Because I had no energy left and I was thankful he did not hurt himself or cut his head. (I was also relieved he still had hair. We have a family wedding coming up. Lots of pictures. And Christmas pictures.)

God blessed William with a headful of really thick hair. We have transitioned from spikes, to an old man style, to curly and out of control (like Mom's) to way too short. Thankfully, William's hair grows super fast. It is usually curly and extremely forgiving, so I alternate between cutting it myself and taking him to get a proper shape-up. I'm certain you would be capable of telling the difference... We'll just take a little tour.

Birthday spikes Papa hair

First Birthday! First "Real" Haircut Would definitely recommend a Dum-Dum, a rested child and Mr. Chris!
My favorite

The first time I cut William's hair was on a trip to Mobile. William was asleep & Grammie helped me. He woke up the next morning with a new do. He is a hard sleeper like his mom, too!

2nd Birthday Thick & Wavy (Practicing a bottle for the baby). Professionally cut, but really short! This is what happens when a tired child gets a haircut from his mom. They can't sit still, it ends up crooked and everyone loses their patience. He actually straightened it up when he cut it himself (but we'll just keep that information to ourselves).
ADDENDUM: He cut it again Friday night. I know you are wondering where we were and why on earth there were scissors available. It was midnight and we were asleep. Midnight! Now the scissors are locked up with the medicine. If I had access to a fall monitor, I'd place that on him while he was sleeping. Bed alarms would be nice, too. He is also on a "Little Rascals" hiatus. Maybe that was the problem to start with.

Go Tigers! Geaux Tigers! Go Tigers Geaux!

Auburn is here! Yeah! It was so heartwarming to see Auburn colors in Baton Rouge! We went to campus today to tailgate and it was packed out!!! I said "War Eagle" to so many people and it felt so good to my soul. William had a great time listening to the music playing and shaking his Auburn shaker. Eric snuck away to the game with Uncle B and the kids and I headed home for bedtime. William wore orange & blue with me and Lauren wore purple & gold with Eric. That's fair right?

I had to sneak on some orange & blue. Don't tell her Daddy!!!

William's First Day!

William started preschool today! We cannot count how many times he has asked, "Is my school open yet?" William has been so excited at the very thought of school. I guess this should make us feel a little sad, but he has been looking forward to meeting friends in Baton Rouge. So, we have been counting down to this special day! He told us he needed a "jack-pack" like Jackson, and crayons, glue and paint. This morning, we realized he thought his cousins would be at his school, too! (We ARE always saying, "They are at school...") William was so disappointed, but he got it together on the way!
When he climbed in the car after school, he literally talked the whole way home. They sang "Jesus Loves Me," made handprint art, ate goldfish & pretzels, and went to the little church, too. When I asked him if he had fun, he said, "I like my school. My buddies are there." Happy tears for this Mom!

William was so excited to see Thomas at his school!

93 Years and 8 Months!

We went to Mobile this past Sunday to celebrate Papa Beasley's 93rd birthday! 93 years young! My sweet grandfather is still teaching Sunday school, cooking, gardening and enjoying his great-grandchildren! He always makes sure we are well fed and loves to boil shrimp for William. We probably increase the length of his naps after we visit, but we enjoy seeing him so much! Happy Birthday Papa!

It's the life in your years."
~ Abraham Lincoln

And this sweet girl is 8 months old now! Lauren now has 2 pearly whites that she seems pretty proud of and she LOVES cheerios. She sports a "beta carotene" nose from eating lots of orange veggies. She's learning to hold her own (toys) with William, almost sitting up on her own and almost crawling. She mostly does 360's on her belly to scoot where she needs to go. William is guarding his toys closely and almost always says, "No Larn. This would probly hurt you. You don't need to play with that." We are getting lots of practice with sharing! Lauren smiles all of the time and is still very easy going. The only disappointment is that she is growing too fast!!!

Hot Air!

The Louisiana Balloon Championship was this past weekend at Pennington. It was absolutely amazing. The hot air balloons were gorgeous and there were so many family oriented activities to enjoy. Linda & Randy (Meme' and Poppie) went with us and we enjoyed seeing Jessica and her family, too!

At night, the balloons are inflated on the field and as the announcer counts down, they all flash their burners at the same time. The announcer would say, "Twinkle burn" or "All Burn" and the balloons would light up. It looked like Christmas when the balloons were glowing! (This is one of Jessica's pictures...)

Our favorite part of the weekend was watching the Black Daggers. They are the parachute demonstration team for the US Army. They were incredible and breathtaking! This picture is from their website.

A cricket in line, passes the time!
